My fathers name is James McHarg Miller and my mothers name is Joan when we left Edinburgh there were five of us myself Isabella and my sisters Patricia and Christine my father had a brother named Andrew and from the info I have been given George was Andrews nephew which would make him my cousin I have been looking for any relative of mine for over 40 years now as I have never met any of my fathers family, is there anyone out there that can help me. We now live in Australia and my dad is in a nursing home he is 94yrs I would love to contact someone from that side of the family he was in the Royal Scots during the war. | Message: | Looking for any descendants of James Murray Smithson born c 1835 in Edinburgh. His father was William Smithson, a Commission Agent. James lived in Manchester and Salford most of his life and died there in 1882 after having married four times. I have been unable to trace his birth even though Smithson is a rare name in Scotland. Are there any Smithsons in the Edinburgh area who could possibly help? Another clue could be the Portobello area. | |
