| Message: | I am trying to trace my Greatgrandfather John Bates a Mjor General in the Indian Army (1840-1890 aprox).All I know is his wife Lydia Elizabeth is on the 1871 census living in Heathfield Sussex, she died in 1911 in London. They had a daughter Lydia born in 1867 a son John 1868 a daughter Florence 1870 and a son Frederick Cubitson my Grandfather he die in Hendon Middx 1959. I can trace them all on census but not in births .Maybe someone has relations who lived in area at the time. Regards Joy. | |
