SELWYN ROSE (known as 'Tommy') and his wife MARY (Alice) ROSE (nee GALLAGHER) ran the Hallsands Hotel between 1947 and 1953. It is believed that GUYMER were the distaff side of Mary Alice's GALLAGHER family. Also, it is believed that she had a cousin, Freddie GUYMER, who lived at Wallsend, Tyne and Wear (See separate entry on this site). Norah GALLAGHER was the sister of Mary (Alice) ROSE (nee GALLAGHER) who ran the Hallsands Hotel with her husband Selwyn ('Tommy') ROSE between 1947 and 1953. Norah GALLAGHER was staioned at a Naval base in North Shields during the Second World War, and later received the British Empire Medal. Norah later married Jack LYNN of Hallsands and they continued to live in Hallsands after Selwyn and Mary left in 1953. In 1965 he was known to be a bus driver in Middlesborough and he was 25yrs old, he was about 5ft 8in tall,medium build,sandy coloured hair and blue eyes, an address of Tweedsmuir Road,Leven, Perth Scotland has also been given for him,but we are not sure how true this is, we also believe he may have been married at the time. If he is still alive today he will probably be about 70 we dont have an exact date of birth but we know he ws 25 in 1964/65. He was an associate of Cynthia Christine Dodsworth.
