In 1940 he served as a Private (Army Number 7598338) with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC), Arnold near Nottingham. I understand he left the Army in 1946, at which time he was a Lance Corporal with the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (REME). My mother was born February 1941 in Polebrook, near Oundle.
